PONY TRAINING

Our experienced staff can help you with a wide range of issues that you may be experiencing, do you have issues with:

  1. Safety whilst leading, Turning, Leading, Stopping, Willingness to stand still or Willingness to go forward, Schooling, Confidence hacking or ALL of these!

  2. Or has your Pony got issues with Bolting, Napping, Biting, Rearing, Bucking, Loading, Spinning, Barging or Kicking?

  3. You may be stuck and don't know what to do next or you may have a perfectly well-behaved pony and would like to move on to the advanced stages of training.

  4. Ghyll Park Equestrian helps riders and owners develop tailor made training plans for their pony or horse, we help you to identify and understand your pony’s behaviour and in turn your horse or pony becomes more confident, better behaved and more willing to engage.

Each package set up for individual needs

​

  • 1/2 hour private lesson £45

  • 1/2 hour semi private £40

  • 1/2 hour private with chief instructor £50

  • 1 hour group lesson £40

  • 1 hour group hack £40

  • Pub hack / 2 hour hack £70

  • 3/4 hour private specialised lesson eg dressage, jumping or showing £60

Fees

In partnership with The British Pony Racing authority, we are now able to offer racing academy for under 16's.

​

The courses take place across the country and are fully funded, including the hire of ponies and equipment, but each rider will need to provide their own safety equipment including a riding helmet, body protector and riding boots.

You need to:

  • Be aged between 11 and 14 years old

  • Have a basic standard of riding and be able to canter in a riding school

  • Really want to have a go at pony racing

  • Show commitment to the course

In 3 years nearly 40 children have completed the scheme and over the next 2 years we expect to see another 30 children go through. 3 of our Academy Graduates are riding as licensed jockeys ‘under rules’ in the UK.

The schemes are currently being run near in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, London, Cheshire and Sussex further Academies opening across the UK including Lincolnshire. We also work closely with the Northern Horseracing College in Doncaster and the British Racing School in Newmarket.

All those who have completed the 12 PRA Academy sessions have taken part in a pony race at the end of it.

 

We have a second hand shop for riding equipment with good quality second hand stock of boots, jodhpurs, jackets and gloves etc are always available.

Part full schooling

 

Here at Ghyll Park Equestrian we can offer horses for sale. They are well-educated, tried and tested, ridden by adults and children, open to vetting also.

​

We offer part horse loans where children and adults can get a taste of owning a horse but at half the price. (ask Sally for details ) We have 15 ponies available.

​

Hot Wash rooms and staff on site in case there is anything you need or are unsure about.

We offer apprenticeships for 15 to 18 year olds and a try before you buy.​
